About us
Copperbeech Connemara Ponies, having being established in 2003, set out on its quest to commit to the breed standard of the Connemara Pony. The subsequent breeding programme has resulted in producing offspring that are true to type and possess all the characteristics that the Connemara pony is renowned for throughout the world.
Located in Carrowkeel, Ballinrobe in south County Mayo, on the gateway to Connemara, the stud farm contains a herd of broodmares that stem from three direct mare lines, Lackragh Beauty, Lishín Star and Curragh Court Lady. These three foundation mares each represent the breed to the highest of standards, having all been multiple supreme champions and all reaching the pinnacle of their showing careers on the green grass of the famous Ring 1 in Clifden.
Lackragh Beauty was crowned Supreme Champion of Clifden in 2016; Lishín Star gained multiple reds throughout her Clifden show days with the pinnacle coming in 2019 when achieving the title of Reserve Supreme Champion. Curragh Court Lady, having had a tremendous showing year in 2009, topped it off that August in Clifden by winning a hotly contested young mares class, before departing for her new life in Switzerland.
