Clifden 2023

Clifden Show 2023 – a day of dreams realised for us. The day started brilliantly in the morning with James gaining 2nd place in the young handlers class. Next up was our filly foal Copperbeech Ivy (Copperbeech Polly x Innellan Condor), who took the red in a class of stunning filly foals.
At this point, the showing paused, to recognise the past Supreme Champions of Clifden in ring one. James had the great privilege to parade our 2016 Champion Lackragh Beauty, 23 years young, amongst the many stunning previous Clifden Champions, an unbelievable spectacle.
An Chaethrú Chaol Bláthnaid was next up, gaining a highly credible 3rd place amongst a class full of show champions and many previous Clifden winners. Ember Grey was then brought forward, with her colt foal Copperbeech Icon at foot, to contend the first of the mares with foal at foot classes, gaining third place amongst an array of stunning broodmares.
Final Class of the day for us was with Copperbeech Polly and her Champion Foal Copperbeech Ivy at foot, taking 2nd place in a class of top top broodmares.
Then to the championship, where Ring One was filled with stunning ponies, we were absolutely thrilled and stunned that Polly was chosen by the four judges from the senior classes across Rings One and Two as being their Reserve Broodmare Champion. An absolute dream day.
Huge well done to all the competitors on the day. A special congratulations to Terence and the Sweeney family with their Supreme Champion Dunloughan Troy and to Paddy and the Kearns family with their Reserve and Broodmare Champion Loughmore Suzy.
To all the team across the CPBS and Show committee, a massive well done to you all, a week that was fitting for the centenary year of the CPBS, you should be all very proud of yourselves.
Finally, a very special word of thanks to two absolute gentlemen that helped us on the day, John Hynes and Damien Gill, couldn’t have done it with ye both. Two of the best.
