Here’s a look back at the incredible Carrowkeel Star, now 18 years old. Born in 2007, she is the first daughter of Lishin Star and by the legendary Currachmore Cashel.
Carrowkeel Star bred three fillies before beginning her showing career at the age of seven. Her 2014 season was particularly outstanding, starting as Champion Connemara Mare at Balmoral and culminating in Reserve Supreme Champion at Clifden. She has left an indelible mark on the show ring, with numerous titles to her name, including:
• Clifden Reserve Supreme Champion (2014)
• Balmoral Champion Connemara (2014)
• Supreme Broodmare Champion at Galway County Show (2014)
• Overall Reserve Champion at Galway County Show (2015)
• Class Winner at Connacht Spring Show (2015)
• Class Winner in Roundstone (2014)
• A clean sweep at Equifestival 2014, winning:
• 4yr+ Connemara
• 4yr+ Mountain & Moorland
• Supreme Champion Mountain & Moorland
• Supreme Champion Connemara
• Supreme Champion In-hand
• Class Winner at the Connemara Midlands Show (2015)
• 2nd Place in the All-Ireland Broodmare Championship at the Connemara Midlands Show (2015)
We are fortunate to have retained three of her daughters on the farm: Copperbeech Star by Clonberne Boy, Copperbeech Polly by Menlough Owen, and Copperbeech Íde by Glencarrig Knight.
Carrowkeel Star is holding up well this winter, and we look forward to covering her one final time this spring before she enjoys a well-deserved retirement. She truly embodies the legacy of Lishin Star and remains a cornerstone of our breeding program.
